Burkina Faso: Closures of schools
Insecurity forces closure of 13,000 schools for the upcoming school year in Central and West Africa.
Over the past four years, the number of school closures due to insecurity has almost doubled, reaching more than 13,200 closed schools in eight countries of the region1. The education of 2.5 million children is directly endangered, warn the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
