Sudan 3 years
The war in Sudan, now in its third year, has triggered the world’s largest displacement crisis, forcing millions of people to flee within Sudan and across neighbouring countries including Chad, South Sudan, Egypt and Libya. New research by the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), based on a survey of 1,293 displaced and refugee households, shows that families are facing extreme hunger, loss of livelihoods, and repeated displacement, with many reporting they have exhausted their coping capacity. Across the region, most households are skipping meals, lack reliable income, and have lost essential assets such as homes, belongings and documentation, while basic services including water, sanitation and education remain severely limited. At the same time, host communities and displaced families continue to share scarce resources, but this solidarity is increasingly under strain as needs grow and resources dwindle.
