NRC Secretary General Jan Egeland meets with Valentina, 71 year-old, and Galina, 68 year-old in Zaliznychne on 23 November 2022. The village was under Russian control from March and was retaken in early September. Most fled the area but many of the elderly remained and barely survived without electricity, water or heat. Electricity was eventually restored in the village and some of the population is coming back.
