Everything in Gaza looks like a famine is very much looming. Children are scavenging and searching for food and go to sleep hungry as there is a steep rise in malnutrition. Hyperinflated prices don’t make sense anymore and have made basic food items out of reach for Gaza’s population. In the north of Gaza, the situation is severely extreme as families are a step away from famine, the area has almost been cut off from aid for weeks.
It is unimaginable that an entire population is left to starve while hundreds of trucks are waiting a few miles away. Impeding aid access and depriving over two million people of the necessities of life will push Palestinians closer to the brink of famine ahead of Ramadan. Hunger in Gaza is already at catastrophic levels, and risks becoming famine. More and more Gazans are falling sick from hunger and thirst.
