Parigul left her home in Moqur five years ago due to heavy fighting and years of drought and came to Qala-e-Naw in search of safety and humanitarian assistance. A few years ago, her husband passed away in the harsh conditions in the camp, leaving her a widow with six children. Along with 20,000 other displaced people, last week she was forced to leave her home in the settlement and return to her original village.
‘In recent years life had become extremely difficult in the settlement as humanitarian assistance basically stopped. And even now, here in our original homes I don’t have anything, no land to cultivate and no house to live inside.’
